Work with Zillow to Improve Your Home's Value -- CLAIM YOUR HOUSE!

Do you know what your home's value is on Zillow?

Is the value less than what you think or know it should be?

Well, claim your house on Zillow! What the heck does that mean, you ask?

I recently attended the 2012 WRA (Wisconsin Realtor's Association) convention and sat in on several technology sessions. I learned a lot about using technology for just about everything we do, and one of the most intriguing tips was claiming your home on Zillow.

We know Zillow is one of the most widely used sites consumers use to find a home and to find data about that home. Oftentimes buyers think a house's value is considerably less than what it's listed for because of the information they find on Zillow. But because Zillow gets their information off public records that might not have information about recent updates or improvements you might have made, you can update information about your house that will give it a more accurate value.

Want to know how to do it? Just check out Zillow's web site for easy instructions.

It's your home so claim it!

Hi Peggy, personally, I don't want to help the Z people with their valuations. I take pride in what I do, and I do it for a living which puts food on my table. Why would I give away for free to them, as they try to position themselves before the clients and then try to sell the leads back to the agents? No thanks.... IMHO :)

Sandy -- At our state convention a few weeks ago, and it was mentioned in more than one session that while we may not like it, consumers are using Zillow. So if a homeowner can correct their data to help bring the info more in line with what it should be, why not? I do understand, however, what you're saying. You have a very valid point.
