OK...I'm the first to admit that I was always a skeptic when it came to "buying into" the idea that our thoughts become things, that we create our lives through our thoughts, "ask and ye shall receive."
But several months ago, things started to fall apart and I had finally had enough.
I remembered a friend telling me about the book The Secret and that she really liked it. So I asked if I could borrow her copy. I started to read and couldn't put it down. For whatever reason, it all made sense to me. Some of it was tough to swallow -- like the idea that the thoughts I've had over the years created the life I was living. But when I really thought about it, well...it was pretty clear that our thoughts do become things.
And so the work began. Retrain my way of thinking. Create new pictures of how I wanted my life to be both professionally and personally.
I started blogging and "met" lots of very interesting and inspiring people on ActiveRain and learned that there were A LOT of folks out there who also believe that our thoughts and attitude have a profound effect on how our life unfolds.
It has been and continues to be a long journey, and while I haven't perfected my way of thinking, I've certainly improved. And I've seen some pretty neat results -- growth in business, improvement in personal relationships, looking forward to every day, and staying away from negative people.
I finally understand what it means to have faith in the unseen and to trust and believe that everything will be okay. Life is good.

There was someone who said that we have it all inside us. We just have to believe it.
Thanks Peggy I am going through that right now. I do believe in positive thinking and the law of attraction but what amazes me is the power of negativism. It is so embedded in some personalities.
I can not handle being around that type atmosphere. Over the years I have either headed or been on various projects
and the nay sawyer's can have a tremendous impact on the success of a project . I am going through that right now and I am ready to walk..my problem is I don't just pick up and quit easily once I have made a committment. Thanks your blog is inspiring
Trust and Faith is everything. At the end of the we realize everything is out of our control except that we gave Faith!
Just a simple story of my daughter who practiced ideas from 'The secret', She is 12 years old. When my wife and I first recieved the movie, we watched it several times, not knowing she stayed up late at night to listen to the TV, several nights in a row.
After winning the schools science fair, with "Vescosity of Liquids", she pulled a medal with a blue ribbon from her pocket. She said I just knew I was going to win!! I have been carrying this Medal around with me ever since I "Learned" the secret. She believed that if she did the right things, acted in a certain way (Doing the experiments) and think she was already the winner, it would happen. It worked like a charm.
The Medal she was carrying belongs to my son. He won it a year earlier in a wrestling tournament.
So.. If this works for a 12 year old, who doesn't understand everything yet, imagine what it can do for you... Have a great weekend.
The power of positive thinking. A wonderful thing. I have said many time times that negative thinking does nothing to help. Neither does dwelling on the negative. Focus on the positive things and your mind will be positive and you will be open to new ideas and experiences.
Heath -- I love that quote. Thanks for sharing!
June -- You are so right. I, too, am amazed at how others' negativity can bring us down. I'm learning to walk away from it. It just does no one any good. And I've noticed how much more "sensitive" I've become to it. I hope things work out with your project. I'm sending you happy thoughts!
Allen -- Yes! You are right. Trust and Faith are everything!! :)
Phil -- Your story gave me goosebumps. I am so happy for your daughter. Thanks for sharing this great story!
Nicholas -- It is so true. I still am amazed at how that shift from the negative to the positive just brings more positive! Thanks for stopping by.
Thanks for sharing your very positive post.
Thank you for you nice comment, Li. And thank you for stopping by!
Hi Peggy: I love your story and just love hearing your success. - It has been just about 4 years since I was introduced to a life changing life success program and later the Secret - I return to the place where it all began each and every year. If it were not for this re-union and my annual recharge, I think I would be lost. So nice that you are close, . . . and perhaps an energy bigger than us - Big Smile to you my friend.....
Thanks, Gwenn. Have to admit the past couple days have been a stumbling block but I'm trying to work through it. Great to hear from you!! Hope you are well.
